Assalamualaikum brother as a student how can we benefit from the shaykh directly i speak Arabic al hamdulilah but since i just came back from overseas im afraid i will lose the language any advice will help. thanks

    • UMMtaubah says:

      wa alaykum salaam

Having had made the same journey myself I would say that in order for you to keep the language you can try a few methods. One, try and speak English only with people who speak no Arabic, and for your companions that know some Arabic, stick to the Arabic language only. Two, I would suggest that you read, read, read in Arabic as much as possible, especially the Qur-aan (aloud so that you may hear yourself). Three, challenge yourself and take the Arabic course here at TheFIKS.
      May Allah give you success
      UMMtaubah

    • Muhammad Shoaib Ali says:

As Salam Walaikum Wa Rahmatu Allah he Wa Barakatuh,

The best way to retain your language skills is to Think in that language…When you talk to yourself while deducing something..or when your trying to remember things … Think in arabic. InshaAllah the language will become more fluent in speech and reading.

  27. Abo Anis Colon says:

As salaam alaykum : To the sister who calls herself unknown : Do not put yourself in a mental prison. Do not closed the door before giving yourself a chance . If there is any person on the face of this planet earth , who had an excuse for learning, that person would be Umm Tauba , Abo Tauba’s wife. For she had everything against her. She came out of Brooklyn New York, the projects not just any projects these projects were called Marcy projects. Well, I guess you would have to live in Marcy projects to really understand what I am talking about.

She married a person who goes by the name of Abo Tauba and that is another story by itself. She went to one of the hardest place in this universe, nevertheless, this soul excelled . She took it to another level. She refused to give up in every sense of the word.

I really think that you should get with her. Let her be your mentor , let her show you the ropes. Let her show you the glory and beauty of the doctrine, the doctrine of being a student of knowledge. Let her lead to the door of the spirit of truth. That spirit which lies dormant in each one of us.

She will be able to take you into zones that go beyond verbal expression.

  31. al-boriqee says:

    aalamu alaikum
    to Sister Ruqaya bano
The courses for reading the Qur’an are the tajweed course called TuHfatul-aTfaal, which is a basic text for proper dictation of the Qur’an. This is the course needed in order to read the Qur’anic arabic. I also believe that nother basic requirement is the first semester of the ultimate arabic course titled ‘teaching reading”. it is best to enroll in the ultimate arabic course.

    Brother Timucin Kaplin.
What 2nd semester are you referring to?

    to sister unknown

the methodology of abu taubah in bringing forth classes is based on stair step progression whereby the student must master what they studied and then go over it with abu taubah in order for him to approve of your understanding. After a sufficient number of students do this, then moving onto into further subjects can take place. usoolul-FiQh and more advanced course on Arabic like Alfiyyah is something he would love to do, but the current students enrolled are not at that level yet. usoolul-Fiqh comes after studying primer texts of one or more of the classical texts of each madhaab.
The manner of the courses is not a “class fashion” whereby he gives the class and it is recorded and anybody can see it. To simplify it, the method utilized here is the old classical method. That means dictation directly to a teacher. If you have simply read a text or viewed some videos on your own, and did not go over it with a teacher, this entails “not having gone over the text at all”.
This is part of the actuality of “al-Isnaad min ad-Deen”

Inshallah you will be able to go through this if you register for the courses you desire.

    To Candice
    I will ask the teacher.

    السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركات

It says that the one-time Tuition for the arabic course (any semester) is $200. Does this mean that if you pay just $200 once, you can access ANY arabic semester? Or does this mean that $200 is the tuition for every different arabic semester.
